City of TAMPERE Tampere is the centre city in Pirkanmaa Region and has a population of about 210 000. Distance from Helsinki is 176 km. It is the second most important urban centre in Finland and the biggest inland city in the Nordic countries. Tampere has an active cultural life with Tampere Theatre Festival, Tampere Film Festival, Tampere Music Festival and Tammerfest Rock Festival. KAHDET KASVOT(Kauppakatu 14)  This pub also organize whisky tastings. Evaluated: July 2010. MY VIEWS: Whisky collection: Approximately 65 single malt whiskies in the collection. Whiskylist available. The staff: Excellent knowledge by the owner who really knows whiskies. Unfortunately I forgot to ask his name but it was very nice to chat with him. He also let me examine the bottle. The environment & atmosphere: Very basic pub environment and pub atmosphere. Relaxed feeling inside. Variety of collection: Better than average collection. TEERENPELI(Hämeenkatu 25) They have a malt whisky cellar and cabinet and they organize also tasting evenings and whisky school. They also have Teerenpeli single malt whisky available (that other Finnish single malt whisky). Evaluated: July 2010. MY VIEWS: Whisky collection: Approximately 60 single malt whiskies available. Also on the shelf was their own brand Teerenpeli Single Malt which is distilled at Lahti. The staff: Basic knowledge by the staff on duty. The environment & atmosphere: Modern environment in two storeys. Mellow pub atmosphere. Music was not too loud. Good feeling. Variety of collection: Better than average collection. KONTTORI(Verkatehtaankatu 5)  Mainly a beer pub with live music but also a good collection of whiskies. Evaluated: July 2010. MY VIEWS: Whisky collection: Approximately 40 single malt whiskies available. The staff: Good knowledge by the staff on duty and they let me examine the bottle. The environment & atmosphere: Nice pub environment and pub atmosphere. Perhaphs wasn't the best time to evaluate this. Variety of collection: Better than average collection. TUULENSUU(Puutarhakatu 16)  Evaluated: July 2010. MY VIEWS: Whisky collection: Approximately 25 single malt whiskies available. The staff: Good knowledge by the staff on duty. Let me examine the bottle. Also you don't have to pay immediately. The environment & atmosphere: Very basic and modern bar. Okay feeling. Perhaps not the best time to evaluate this. THE CELTIC HOUSE(Hämeenkatu 3) Scottish style pub in the centre of Tampere. Evaluated: July 2010. MY VIEWS: Whisky collection: Approximately 15 single malt whiskies available. Not only basic whiskies as there was also HP40 on the shelf. The staff: Basic knowledge by the staff on duty. The environment & atmosphere: British pub environment and atmosphere.
